Seeking Postdoctoral Fellow to Study Mammalian Skin Regeneration and Human Skin Diseases.
The Leung Lab at the University of Pennsylvania (http://www.thomasleunglab.org/) seeks 1-2 postdoctoral fellows. We are a NIH-funded and Department of Veteran Affairs (VA)-funded lab that studies how to regenerate human skin without a scar and to understand the molecular pathogenesis of human inflammatory skin diseases, including sarcoidosis, lichen planus, and neutrophilic disorders.
We use single-cell genomics techniques and spatial transcriptomics to interrogate diseased human skin samples, human 3D skin organoids, and mouse models of skin wounding (submitted). We also use and invent genome-wide technologies to measure changes in 3D nuclear architecture and chromatin dynamics. We recently published papers demonstrating the role of aging, neuroimmune communication, and epigenetics in mammalian tissue regeneration (Nishiguchi et al., Cell Reports 2019; Wei et al., Science Immunology 2020; Leung et al. New England Journal of Medicine In press). Ultimately, we aim to develop new therapeutic approaches in regenerative medicine and skin biology.
The individual will have a PhD or equivalent degree and experience in immunology, molecular biology, developmental biology, skin biology, or genomics. Helpful techniques include: animal models, flow cytometry, CRISPR, molecular biology, and genomics (single-cell, RNA-Seq, exome sequencing, ATAC-Seq). We also seek individuals that have a computation background and would like to learn wet-lab bench skills. The individual should also be willing to work in a highly collaborative environment to support ongoing projects in the laboratory, train lab members, independently design/coordinate/execute research studies in consultation with the PI, and help in preparing manuscripts, presentations, and grant applications.
To apply, please email a letter of interest and a CV that includes three references to Dr. Leung (thomasleunglab@gmail.com). Please include 1) a statement about your interest in our lab, 2) career goals and objectives, and 3) information about citizenship/residency/Visa status.
