A three-year position as postdoctoral researcher at Aarhus University, the Faculty of Science, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, prof. Poul Nissens research group, is available from June 14, 2013 or as soon as possible.

The successful candidate must hold a strong track record in molecular biology and drug discovery, especially in the area of protein purification, and enzyme characterization, protein crystallization, and structure-based drug discovery. The candidate is expected to establish independent research aiming also for proof-of-concept. For the position a solid general knowledge of the field of molecular cell biology, protein research, interdisciplinary approaches and drug discovery in translational research will be considered important.

Research at prof. Poul Nissens research group is focused on membrane proteins, in particular P-type ATPases, secondary transporters, and the higher-order structure and function of biomembranes. The laboratory takes part in several research centres. The Danish Research Institute of Translational Neuroscience (DANDRITE) is the Danish node of the Nordic EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine. DANDRITE was established by the Lundbeck Foundation and Aarhus University in 2013 and performs basic and translational research in brain and the nervous system. PUMPkin is an interdisciplinary research center of the Danish National Research Foundation, focused on P-type ATPases, and BIOMEMOS is an advanced research program funded by the European Research Council investigating higher.order structure and function of the membrane (see also csb.au.dk, dandrite.au.dk, pumpkin.au.dk).

The candidate is expected to stimulate translational research of the active research areas at the research group. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining current cooperation with partners from industry. Furthermore, the candidate is expected to contribute to supervision of BSc, MSc and PhD students.
