Postdoctoral Research Fellow: A postdoctoral research position is immediately available in the lab of Dr. Yuliang Wu at the Department of Biochemistry, College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada. The lab is a part of newly formed “Cancer Cluster” in an open concept laboratories, which house 8 PIs and more than 40 researchers who have common interests in cancer research. Dr. Wu’s group is particularly interested in understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms of DNA repair deficiency caused cancers, such as familial breast-ovarian cancer and Fanconi anemia. Using molecular, biochemical, and cell biology approaches, this position will study the molecular pathogenesis of DNA helicases (FANCJ, ChlR1, and RECQ) mutations in tumorigenesis.
Qualifications: The applicant must hold a recent Ph.D. (or be in final stages of receiving Ph.D.) in biochemistry, molecular biology, cancer biology, or a related field. The applicant should possess techniques in some, or all, of the following: molecular work (DNA and RNA), protein expression and purification, enzyme activity assays, protein biochemistry, and tissue culture. Experience in FPLC (AKTA), proteomics, or immunofluorescence microscopy would be a plus. Ability to communicate in written and spoken English will be required.
Conditions: The position is a two year term position. Salary scale: $40,000 – $45,000 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience). There is a possibility of renewal after two years contract depending on performance and continued funding.
