A postdoctoral position in the field of Immunology is currently available in the laboratory of Dr. Karen Norris, Department of Immunology, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
Our research is focused on the role of chronic immune activation in HIV infection in the development of a cardiopulmonary syndrome that encompasses cardiovascular disease (CVD), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). The long-term translational goal of this work is to define the role of chronic immune activation in the pathogenesis of cardiopulmonary co-morbidities of HIV infection and to identify and test related therapeutic pathways in a highly relevant, animal model of HIV infection. We are seeking a post-doctoral fellow with interests in 1) determination of the role of chronic immune activation and inflammation on the development of vascular remodeling and PAH and 2) the evaluation of the effectiveness of anti-viral, anti-inflammatory and conventional PAH treatment in this model.

Qualifications: Requirements include a recent PhD and/or MD in immunology – PhDs graduated within two years are particularly encouraged to apply.
Candidates with strong research background in cellular immunology, and cell biology. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are required. US citizen.
