Johnson & Johnson Consumer Products Company Division of Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies, Inc. develops and markets baby care, wound care and skin care products that address the needs of consumers and health care professionals and incorporate the latest innovations. The portfolio includes heritage brands JOHNSON'S® Baby and BAND-AID® Brand, as well as leading skin care brands such as AVEENO® and CLEAN & CLEAR®.

The Postdoctoral Scientist, Skincare R&D, Physiology & Biophysics, Consumer Perception Modeling, will work internally and externally to develop a testing methodologies to create a predictive model of the correlation between effective and affective benefits.The postdoc will conduct independent research to drive further innovation in method development for measurement of consumer emotional reaction to product usage. He/She will be expected to develop a sound foundation in understanding consumer behavior when skincare products are used. The postdoctoral scientist will design experiments, acquire data, analyze results, and communicate findings to internal R&D colleagues as well as external academic and industry collaborators. He/she will assess the competitive landscape and current knowledge base through review of external literature, data sources and intellectual property. This role will require creative problem solving abilities, as well as the ability to present complex information to cross-functional partners, and write scientific and patent applications.

Qualifications

A Ph.D is required in Cognitive and Behavioral Sciences, or a related discipline. Less than 2 years industrial experience is preferred. Deep understanding of core concepts in visual attention, emotion, perception, memory, motivation, culture, diversity and personality applied to decision making is required. Experience in measurement and analysis of emotions, through survey and non verbal approaches is preferred. Experience in measurement and analysis of visual cognition, through eye tracking, survey and other non verbal approaches is preferred. Experience in scientific statistical methods, including experimental design and data analysis is preferred. Matlab programming experience is preferred. Computer Science experience is preferred. Knowledge of sensory analysis is a plus. Training in Ekman’s Facial Action Coding System (FACS) is a plus. This position is located in Skillman, NJ.
