We have an exciting opportunity for you to conduct independent cutting-edge work in state-of-the-art laboratories while teaming with other AstraZeneca scientists. You’ll also be able to collaborate with a leading academic advisor who will provide further support and guidance. Additionally, we’ll encourage you to attend and present at international scientific conferences and publish high-profile papers.

Your major responsibilities

• Analyzing next generation sequencing (NGS) data from cancer samples to understand the landscape of allele specific expression of oncogenes and tumor suppressors
• Exploring the impact of allele specific expression on oncogene dependency and drug response
• Developing novel algorithms for analyzing NGS data
• Collaborating with scientists from across many disciplines while at the same time being able to work independently
• Communicating results within AstraZeneca via global working groups and externally at meetings and through publications
• Publishing scientific papers in high-impact journals

Minimum experience

• A PhD-level education (or equivalent) in bioinformatics, computational science, statistics, or a related scientific discipline
• First-hand experience of analyzing next generation sequencing data, particularly in DNA and RNA-seq
• Experience of interpreting NGS data
• Hands-on experience of scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or shell script
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

Preferred experience/requirements

• A strong scientific track record
• A strong passion and commitment to science, and the ability to work well within a team environment
• A working knowledge of oncology and drug discovery
