The Center for Human Genome Variation is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher to join an interdisciplinary research team studying the genetic basis of neurological diseases.
The Postdoctoral researcher will focus on the study the of idiopathic and symptomatic epilepsy conditions with a particular focus on brain-tissue specific perturbations mediating seizures. Research will include developing next-generation sequencing and analysis methods to detect somatic mutations in human brain tissue specimens, analyzing sequence data to identify somatic mutations responsible for disease, characterizing functional consequences of identified somatic mutations, evaluating genomic signatures associated with epilepsy or cortical malformations in brain tissue, and collaborating with an international consortium using next-generation sequencing to identify germline mutations responsible for epilepsy.
Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. in Genetics or a scientifically related field.
