The Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour in Nijmegen in The Netherlands is one of the top-institutes for neuroscience worldwide. A key area of research at the Donders Institute is the integration of information across different research modalities, especially in the context of neuroimaging and genetics. To strengthen our existing Imaging Genetics team, we are looking for an excellent post-doc with a strong technical background, ideally in developing neuroimaging analysis methods for fMRI,MEG and/or Imaging Genetics. Relevant experience in other areas of Engineering/Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science and Physics would be considered.
The main task of the post-doc is to develop innovative analysis methods for neuroimaging genetics analyses that allow for multimodal data-integration and linking complex genome-wide genetic data and neuroimaging data within a Bayesian framework.
The successful candidate for the position will have a Master and PhD degree in a relevant technical area – most likely one of: Mathematical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Physics, Statistics or Image Processing. Affinity with human genetics is required. Next to experience in relevant research areas (s)he will have a track record of high-quality reviewed journal publications, strong experience in programming, ideally in both Matlab and C/C++, strong written and oral English communication skills, the capacity for independent research, an ability to work well in a team and in sharing technical know-how and ideas.
The position provides the opportunity for doing world-class research as a key member of an interdisciplinary team. Initially, the qualified candidate will be hired for 3 years (at least 0.8 fte) in first instance, but employment may be extended for 2 more years.
