The Department of Ophthalmology has an immediate opening for a Post Doctoral Associate under the direction of Dr.Wei Li to study cellular ligands, disease mechanisms and therapeutic agents.

The research projects are to investigate: 

1) phagocytosis ligands related to phagocyte dysfunction in aged tissues and disease conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease and age-related macular degeneration (AMD); 

2) endothelial ligands related to vascular diseases, including diabetic vascular complications, angiogenesis and ischemia; 

3) protein-protein interactions; and 

4) autoantibodies as disease biomarkers.

The Postdoc will characterize several newly-identified disease-related phagocytosis ligands and endothelial ligands with molecular, cellular and animal approaches. Besides the eye research, our research programs also include neurosciences and vascular diseases. You will learn much more about our exciting research projects through your interview. REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum qualifications are as follows: recent PhD. Candidates with the following research experience are preferred: molecular biology, cellular biology, recombinant protein expression/purification, protein-protein interaction, signal transduction, cell functional analyses, immunohistochemistry, confocal imaging and flow cytometry. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Strong record of productivity is highly desirable. Any appropriate combination of education, certifications, and/or relevant work experience may be considered.
