Working with an interdisciplinary team of PhD students and senior researchers, and take on a role that includes not only pure research, but also co-supervision, and project participation.

Your major responsibility as postdoc is to perform your own research in a research group. The position also includes teaching on undergraduate and master's levels as well as supervising master's and/or PhD students to a certain extent. Another important aspect involves collaboration within academia and with society at large. The position is meritorious for future research duties within academia as well as industry/the public sector.

Position summary

We invite candidates to apply for a postdoctoral position in the field of optical network optimization, with an emphasis on cross-layer optimization. We aim to develop and analyze novel methods for resource allocation in elastic long-haul networks. You will be working with an interdisciplinary team of PhD students and senior researchers, and take on a role that includes not only pure research, but also co-supervision, and project participation. The position is funded through the Swedish Research Council, with an attractive salary and full social benefits, for a period not exceeding two years (1+1). The starting date for this position is between January and April 2014. Full-time temporary employment.

Qualifications

A PhD (or close to completion) in optical network optimization (or a closely related area). Mathematical skills, particularly optimization theory and techniques, are essential. Knowledge in digital communication theory, system design, resource allocation, optical transmission, and signal processing are a plus. You must have the ability to initiate new research collaborations, work in a team, and be open for the application of results. Candidates must have a proven publication record in top-ranked journals and/or conferences. Good communication skills and good command of English are essential.

To qualify for the position of postdoc, you must have a doctoral degree in a relevant field; the degree should generally not be older than three years. You are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching, and to demonstrate good potential within research and education.
