Description:
We are seeking a Principal Scientist who will have scientific and managerial responsibility for a group of translational scientists working in the Immunology therapeutic area. This individual will report to a therapeutic area Director and will interact seamlessly with the Discovery Biology, Translational and Chemistry groups to help formulate and implement strategy. The major focus of this position will be coordinating the ex vivo PK/PD evaluation of novel therapeutic agents and development of target engagement and biomarker assays that will support the drug discovery efforts of the entire therapeutic area. Additional responsibilities include the identification and validation of novel disease pathways and target specific biomarkers, and coordinating the systems biology studies in models of autoimmunity.
Requirements:
PhD in the Biological Sciences with a minimum of 8 years experience, preferably within the Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology sector. Knowledge of the Immunology/Inflammation therapeutic area with a strong ex vivo background is essential. Strong background in developing in vivo and ex vivo target engagement assays is a must. Previous experience with standard models associated autoimmune diseases is preferred, as is working knowledge of assays using freshly isolated cells from organs and tissues. The position will require strong scientific and managerial skills and the successful candidate will have proven leadership ability. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a robust publication record in peer-reviewed journals are essential.
