(1) Energy Forecasting and Planning (PDF-EFP) – Individuals applying for a position in this area of research should have interest and some experience in modeling of sectorial energy demand and supply. The aim is to develop environmental footprints (GHGs, water, land) of energy demand and supply sectors for a particular jurisdiction. The individual should also have some experience working with relevant energy forecasting and planning models (e.g., LEAP, MARKAL).
(2) Techno-economic Assessment of Bioenergy/Biofuel Systems (PDF-BIOMASS) – Individuals applying for a position in this area of research should have interest and some experience broadly in the area of biomass-based energy conversion systems, specifically in the conversion of forest- and agriculture-based biomass to fuels and chemicals. The candidate should have experience in the development of techno-economic models for the estimation of the viability of these types of energy systems. Experience in the assessment of biomass feedstock potential and its supply and logistics will be desirable assets.
