Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the laboratory of Nichole Klatt at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. The research lab focuses on understanding mechanisms underlying mucosal dysfunction and microbiome dysbiosis during HIV infection, and developing novel therapeutic interventions to treat HIV disease pathogenesis and prevent HIV acquisition. The lab uses both HIV human studies and non-human primate models of SIV infection to assess these questions.
Highly motivated scientists with a background in immunology, microbiology, virology, cell biology, molecular biology or similar are encouraged to apply. Candidates with backgrounds in HIV research, microbiome, mucosal immunology, vaccinology or microbiology will be preferred.
Advanced training and experience in multi-color flow cytometry, including FACS analysis and interpretation OR in microbiome sequencing and analysis required. Training in PCR, high throughput sequencing, ELISA, cell culture, and tissue processing preferred. Experience in mucosal immunology and non-human primate or human mucosal tissue processing and research preferred. Experience in microbiome sequencing and/or analysis preferred.
Candidates should have expertise in data analysis, using the computer programs excel, prism, flowjo, QIIME, R, Mothur and adobe illustrator or equivalent programs. Manuscript and figure preparation, grant writing skills, and a strong publication record required.
