　　The Department of Pharmacology & Physiology at the George Washington University is an active research department, with federally funded programs in neuroscience and development, cardiovascular pharmacology and integrative physiology, genomics and oncology. We provide unique training opportunities in biomedical research at the pre and postdoctoral level. We offer courses in Pharmacology and Physiology for Medical and Physician Assistant students, as well as several courses at the graduate level through the GW Institute for Biomedical Sciences. 　　We have an opening for a postdoctoral scientist in the laboratory of Dr. Colin N. Young at The George Washington University, School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Department of Pharmacology and Physiology.

　　Current projects are focused on the central nervous system mechanisms underlying the development of hypertension, obesity and cardio-metabolic disorders, with a specific emphasis on endoplasmic reticulum stress, transcription factor activation, redox signaling and the renin-angiotensin system. A wide range of multidisciplinary approaches in murine models are used including whole animal cardiovascular and metabolic physiology, advanced in vivo imaging techniques, and genetic/molecular neuroscience strategies.

　　Duties include:

　　-Conduct research on the neural mechanisms of cardiometabolic diseases utilizing techniques of whole animal physiology and cardiovascular/metabolic function, in vivo imaging techniques, and genetic/molecular approaches.

　　-Written and oral presentation of research findings

　　-Assist in training of other laboratory members

　　-Performs other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

　　Minimum Qualifications:

　　Qualified candidates will hold a PhD in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
