Postdoctoral Positions Available Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine University of California San Diego
The Leschziner lab (https://andres-leschziner.squarespace.com) at the University of California San Diego is seeking postdoctoral fellows to join our cryo-EM research team. Positions are available in two areas: (1) Microtubule-based processes and their role in human disease, as part of our ongoing collaboration with the Reck-Peterson lab (UC San Diego / HHMI). In addition to cryo-EM, projects in this area involve cryo-electron tomography, single-molecule biophysics, biochemistry, and state-of-the-art light microscopy (including light sheet microscopy). (2) Regulation of chromatin structure and dynamics. There are several projects in this area, involving cryo-EM and biochemistry.
The UC San Diego Cryo-EM Facility houses a Talos Arctica (owned by the Leschziner lab) and a Titan Krios, both equipped with K2 direct electron detectors and Volta phase plates. The Titan Krios is also equipped with an energy filter. A second Titan Krios with a K3 camera and Volta phase plates is scheduled to be delivered in 2020.
The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in the biological, biophysical, or biochemical sciences. Preferred candidates will have experience in cryo-EM and/or biochemistry of complex reconstituted systems.
