　　Open postdoctoral positions in a number of collaborative projects to study structure-function and biology of ApoA-I Binding Protein (AIBP; please refer to Nature 2013, 498:118-22; Cell Rep 2018, 23(9):2667-77; JCI Insight 2018, 3(16) pii: 120519; J Lipid Res. 2018, 59(5):854-863), the protein that selectively regulates lipid rafts in inflamed and cholesterol-overloaded cells. The research in Yury Miller’s laboratory at the University of California, San Diego is at the intersection of cholesterol metabolism/lipid rafts, vascular and neuro inflammation, neuropathic pain and neurodegeneration. One project is a collaboration with Robert Rissman’s lab to study protective role of AIBP in neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration, using cellular and mouse models. Another project, in collaboration with Irina Kufareva’s lab, focuses on structural determinants of AIBP-TLR4 and AIBP-apolipoprotein interactions. The successful candidate will be a recent PhD graduate (0-1 years) with a strong publication record and demonstrated expertise in molecular biology, neuronal/glial cell biology, high-resolution imaging and/or mouse models of neurodegeneration. The fellows will be part of a vibrant research community combining insights from mechanisms involved in the development of lipid abnormalities, atherosclerosis, neuroinflammation, neuropathic pain, Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases, with a strong focus on translation of scientific discoveries into clinic.
