Job Description
Two Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Associate positions are available in the Department of Neurosciences at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute. The successful candidate(s) will work for Dr. Jianguo Cheng, Professor of Anesthesiology, Staff in the Department of Neurosciences, and Director of the Cleveland Clinic Multidisciplinary Pain Medicine Fellowship Program. Areas of interest include 1) investigating how experimental nerve injuries affect specific signaling pathways between neuron-microglia communications and the development of neuropathic pain; 2) investigating novel biological and cellular therapies for the prevention and treatment of neuropathic pain; 3) investigating specific signaling pathways by which opioids cause neuroinflammation and induce tolerance and hyperalgesia; and 4) investigating novel biological and cellular therapies to prevent and/or reverse opioid tolerance and opioid-induced hyperalgesia. The successful candidate(s) will help lead a multidisciplinary approach that combines behavioral, electrophysiological, molecular, and immunohistochemistry techniques to address important research questions. Individuals with a Ph.D. and/or M.D. in a relevant discipline and research experience in a pain, neuroinflammation, or stem cell-related field are encouraged to apply.
