The laboratory of Dr. Feroz Papa (https://papalab.ucsf.edu), which is based in the UCSF Department of Medicine (https://medicine.ucsf.edu), the UCSF Quantitative Biosciences Institute (https://qbi.ucsf.edu), and the UCSF Diabetes Center (https://diabetes.ucsf.edu) in San Francisco, California is seeking highly motivated post-doctoral scholars wishing to advance their research and career prospects. Our laboratory is focused on understanding the cellular consequences of unmitigated endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and developing new approaches to treat myriad human diseases proceeding from ER stress-induced premature cell loss—such as diabetes, retinitis pigmentosa, and pulmonary fibrosis. We employ biochemical, cellular, genetic, chemical-genetic, and pharmacological tools—in reductionist and murine models—to address these broad questions. Our lab is based at the Mission Bay campus of UCSF, in a vibrant new district of San Francisco. Successful candidates will have a Ph.D., an M.D., or an M.D./Ph.D. degree(s) in any biological or biomedical science discipline. Deep experience in molecular and cell biological techniques, along with mouse genetics and physiology are requirements.
