Postdoctoral Research Scientist In Structure-Based Design And Chemical Biology

We seek a highly motivated Research Scientist with strong experience in structure-based-drug design and medicinal or synthetic chemistry, to work within the Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery Program of the Rastinejad group, at the NDM Research Building in Oxford.

You will manage your own academic research and administrative activities, and be responsible for utilizing X-ray crystal structures and associated software package (e.g. Moe, Pymol, Glide, Auto Doc) to guide the design of new compounds for improved binding and potencies. You will act as a source of information and advice to other members of the group on scientific protocols and experimental techniques, and keep up to date with and advise on matters relating to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Health and Safety, COSHH sheets and other regulations relevant to the post.

It is essential that you hold a PhD (or close to completion) in medicinal chemistry, organic chemistry, chemical biology, or related area, and have a strong understanding of medicinal chemistry. You will have experience in modern computational methods for visualizing and utilizing crystallographic data for the design of new compound analogues for hit-to-lead effort, and have experience in guiding pharmacology experiments for characterizing suitability of compounds for in-vivo (rodent) experiments. Excellent record keeping and precision driven work approach is essential for the role, as well as have the ability to work on several projects in parallel, all involving structural biology and chemical biology.
